Great work!
Whole arrangement is amazing, but too much data for my sampler, so I love that I was able to cut the loop parts I needed to use for worship.
Very grateful!

Well done guys - I am so blessed to have found like minded people at last!!

A number of years ago when reason was still in reason 1.0, I bought it, and often thought (as a drummer) about what the possibilities would be of running a few loops. The idea left me for long long time. In between then and now all I have used it for was to rewire it ito cubase (when I used PC) for the NN19 sampler cause I prefered it to the then rival HALION - and I used to do recordings of demos for local christian artists

Then after 13 years of employment (and being held in a creative chokehold by my church with no freedom), I went to study with Hillsong in Australia, and played there as a drummer for one of the local united youth teams - and learnt a huuuuuuge amount about creativity. This was very great. One year later I came home to my home church to find myself in a situation where I am not even allowed to play kit in church with sticks, and only allowed to play with splits moderately, and have to play very basically - and the choke hold grip got its hands on my neck once more.

Recently I started to (after having had nearly every thread of creativity in me crushed by people in my church) get re-inspired in another way. I started to think about what I could do with my Logic pro studio 8 that i bought whilst I was working for apple in australia (whilst studying) I bought it cause I have been building a home drum practice log cabin type thing at the back of my house. here for drumming and for re-inspiriation.

In the "cabin" I plan to have my Yamaha 01x & 1 i88x (24 channel digital recording desk) firewired through to my mac - this will all be grand for recording - but my big dilemma is the live stuff as you'll see in s short while.

About two weeks ago I got my hands on little controller keyboard - the Akai MPK25 (actually for a month before that I had the AXIOM 25 maudio - but found it a pain to program) the akai is way easier.

My plan is to re-enable myself now as not just a drummer, but offer myself to worship teams in other churches that I already assist in remotely. as a loop master with a little 25 key to my right hand side, where I can trigger samples from my mac off one of the 48 trigger pads available from my Akai. I am also learning keys a little too, with the help of our trusty Yamaha CS1x.

SO FINALLY - NOW YOU KNOW MY LIFE STORY - ON TO THE FLAMING QUESTION _ WOULD YOU GET THERE ALREADY!!

I have tried now running Mainstage 1 and hit a wall when I tried to program an EXS24 sampler for loops and an EXS sampler for other keys instruments (so I can play simple bass lines or keys parts whilst loops are running), and I don't really want to have to set up individual loops through logic cause they it means switching through tracks and stuff.

I have a basic version of ableton which seems to do the trick - BUT do I spend about £250 upgrading my ableton (when I know probably 8 tracks of samples would be way more than fine samples wise - but the keys samples are not anywhere near as good as apple mainstages) or do I spend about £75 and get my propellerheads reason upgraded from version 1 to verison 4, where I know I am still going to be able to get super great samples straight out of the box.

What do you reckon fellas? Upgrade the reason or the Ableton. Only other trick is that I am a percussionist - and have just bought a new cajon (with a pickup inside it) so I'd like the audio side of ableton. it might be nice to maybe be out front, start a song on cajon beats - record and live loop it, with a shaker maybe - then get behind the kit, whilst still retaining control of the loop and playing live.
OR
What about I upgrade the REASON so I can put it on my mac and then see if I can rewire it into ableton lite for the keys stuff.

Guess part of what I am asking here is - does reason support multi channel midi input from varied devices and allow simultaneous playback - I think it does, but I have to try and get my copy upgraded so I can install it from the PC on the mac.

I love running filters on audio loops too - sounds kind of funky! I am so looking forward to what we are all going to be blessed to learn together here guys!

What do you reckon guys. What would you do!!
thanks,

Jonny

Hi Billy!

You'll need to go to SacredLoops.org to get the loops--we're just pointing in their direction, not "stealing" their loops (for the record...).

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Michael;

Thanks for visiting LW. We used to direct link to SacredLoops.org, but we were sent a nice note letting us know how they felt about our linking to their loops--and then they took down all the links to their loops completely.

Rather than not link at all, we decided to simply point in their direction so they wouldn't have to stop posting loops. Sorry for the confusion.

Hi JimK. Sorry for the confusion--the titles go to iTunes as a reference point for the song. The part in parenthesis links to the actual loop, unless it's hosted on SacredLoops.org. In that case (like this track), you'll need to visit SacredLoops.org and find the loop--they're currently not a fan of direct linking to their content and loops for some reason, so instead of ignoring them completely, we decided to simply reference that the loops are available on a fellow link site.

Thanks for visiting!

Wow what a frustrating site this is. All your loop links go to iTunes? Instead of loops? Baffling.
